Thursday, Thursday
thursday-thursday

Well, hello.

I could say I’ve had some time to process this news, but the fact is, I really haven’t, so I’m gonna get right to it and announce this and then I can move on with my day, namely, taking a shower and having some breakfast and then writing.

Because I really have to, now.

I just sold two more books to Spice– WAHOOOOOOOO!!!!! And one of them is a sequel to Tempted, so for all of you who wanted Alex to get his HEA, he will. Only time will tell with who, obviously, since it’s not written yet, but I can be pretty sure she’s gonna give him a run for his money. Going along with the book will be a Spice Brief, told in Alex’s POV, about his version of what happened that summer. So for anyone who wanted to get inside Alex’s mind, this will do that. And after that I have no clue what I’ll do, since I hadn’t thought much about it, but I do have this idea…about…a man and a woman…who…um…yeah. I’ll figure it out.

And, in addtion, I’ve been told I’ll be writing two OTHER books, as yet to be determined, but not for Spice. So now I have to really think hard on what that means and what I’ll do and what sort of books I can really get behind because I’d been tossing around an idea here or there but hadn’t actually, you know…written anything. But they want me to write something, so I think it’s time to pull something out of the brain box and dust it off and get it started.

Because you all know how much I LOVE to write in the summer.

No, I won’t be stressed out at all. :)

Then again, I do better with deadlines and projects to keep me busy, and it’s not like I don’t love what I do. So. It will be fine. I might have to hire a baby sitter and escape to the coffee shop, and I KNOW I’ll be up late every night, but that’s the way it goes in the summer.

It’s all about balance.

And now, to the shower, to I might be fresh and clean when I sit down again and start typing away on my nifty new keyboard that is teeny weeny tiny.

spn And normally I’d be all excited because tonight is Thursday which means Supernatural. But. It’s over for the season and WAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!!!!!! (I’m imitating Dean)

Have a great day, all! I’d better get to typing.

New computer
new-computer

It’s big. And shiny. And I loves it, I does. The keyboard is taking some getting used to.

I was away for the weekend at my RWA chapter’s annual retreat. Got work done, ate a lot, bothered my roommate, had bad dreams again, saw a ghost cat.

I’ll have pictures later when my photobucket account lets me back in.

We watched Supernatural…SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!!!!

And when I came home, there was my new computer, all ready for me to use it. So I set it up and now I’m typing away on it and figuring out how to make sure all my other stuff is saved appropriately and then fixing up my old desktop for that man I live with to take over…

And it’s end of the year crazy round these here parts with gym shows and all manner of nutty things. So I’m trying also to write. And my feet are cold today! BOTHER!

So that’s it from here, catch youse later when I can put up some pics and when I’ve done with my writing for the day.

Music Monday/Megan’s Minions: Christopher Lennertz!

Hi, Chris! Thank you so much for agreeing to become my minion. I mean…to answer my Music Monday interview questions. :)
-No Problem!!! Sorry this took so long, I’ve been swamped…

First, if you’d like to give a brief bit about your background, training, how you got into composing as a career (anything you’d like to share!)
- I studied composition at the University of Southern California with Elmer Bernstein. I was originally planning to be a professional guitarist, but fell in love with film scoring when I saw Henry Mancini conduct a score of his a Universal Studios.

I write short stories, novellas and novels. Aside from the length, I approach writing each type of fiction the same way. You compose for television, feature films and video games. Do you find the process for each different, do you approach each with a different mind-set, or is the creative process the same?
- The main difference is the schedule. TV must be done much faster and usually with fewer musicians. So it takes a lot of creativity and tons of coffee to make it happen! They are actually quite similar. They mostly differ in construction…how pieces fit together. But as far as the drama and action go, they are very similar. As long as the project is interesting, then I’m psyched!

How much time do you have to watch the piece before you have to compose the music?
Maybe a few days…

Do you find it easier or more difficult to create on shorter notice, or do you prefer to have longer deadlines?
Well, more time is better to a point, but the thrill of a quick turnaround sometime produces some very cool results!

Do you have a favorite type of work to compose for?
Actually, as long as it is an interesting subject matter, I love just about anything.

I came across your work because I LOOOOOVE Supernatural. Are you still scoring the show (now into Season Three and heading for Season Four)
Yes…just started episode 13!

I read you share the episodes with another composer.
_yes, Jay Gruska, who is amazing!

Do you have a favorite episode?
I loved What is and What shall never be…as well as All Hell Breaks Loose.

Do you have a favorite “genre” to work with?
I like all of them, but I really like anything where the music can play a major role in telling the story.

You’ve created scores for horror and comedy pieces - most recently Alvin and the Chipmunks. Does your current project affect your mood, ever?
-Absolutely, I certainly get in a happy state of mind for the kids stuff, while Supernatural usually makes me a bit more mischievious…

What’s your dream project?
An epic animated musical about the mafia and secret agents starring Pacino, DeNiro, Morgan Freeman, Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson, and Scarlett Johansen…co-directed by Speilberg and Scorsese where I write the score myself and co-compose all the songs with Bono.

I write when I have a contract or when I have inspiration, but I could write a book purely for my own pleasure and yet manage to sell it to someone. You write music to fit specific works — movies, games, tv shows. Do you ever just compose music for your own pleasure?
Very seldom…but mostly because I’m busy, although I’m currently writing my 12 week old daughter a lullaby.

Have you ever tried writing genre music — pop, rock, country?
Definitely, I started writing rock and pop tunes. I play guitar, so it was where I first developed my love of music.

Have you ever tried writing music with words?
Yes…most of my songwriting is with lyrics.

Your bio says you grew up in Easton, PA. So…the crayon factory. How many times have you been there?
Probably 5

What’s your favorite crayon color?
burgundy

Do you ever defect and use those cheap dollar store crayons that don’t smell half as good as the real thing?
Never!

…Ever eaten a crayon?
Mmmmmm…purple.

Left or right? left
Up or down? up
Sam or Dean? Dean (I’m the older brother)
Back or front? front
Vanilla or chocolate? coffee

You stand in front of three doors. What color are they, and which do you choose? What’s behind the one you pick?
Red, Green, Blue…I pick Red…behind it is a concert hall.

Thanks so very much for your time. I’ll add links to your official website and any place else you’d like — Facebook, Myspace, whatever. I’ll mention that people can find your music on iTunes - the video game scores are there! And anything else you’d like to mention.

So my site is www.christopherlennertz.com

I am also on Myspace and Facebook under ChristopherLennertz

Thanks Tons!

SUPERNATURAL

Oh my sweet lord.

“Oh, Sam!”

Oh, Sam, indeed.

And oh, Dean. Oh, oh, Dean. *pets Dean*

I want to eat them both with a spoon and a cherry on top. I want to live in their pockets. I want to sit in the backseat of the Impala and listen to them bicker. I want to be in Sam’s duffel bag. I want to be Dean’s beer. I want to make them pies. I want to be bury  myself at the crossroads and make Dean dig me up. I want to be the bullet in Dean’s gun, I want to be the plaid on Sam’s shirt, I want to look up lore on Sam’s laptop and give Dean the devil horns and drive fast on a dark road with the wind blowing and loud music playing.

GAWD DAMN I FUCKING LOVE SUPERNATURAL.

Winchester Sex!!!

Dean Winchester sex!

Well, hello.

I’m still getting so many hits about Dean Winchester sex it’s not even funny. Why it would be funny, I don’t. But I’m still not Megan Padalecki. Fuhserious, ya’ll. NOT HER.

If you’re here for info on Dirty by Megan Hart, Broken by Megan Hart, Tempted by Megan Hart, this is the right place.

If you’re here for a free online erotic read, I’ve got one of those, too. The Road Taken — check it out!

But if you’re here to get anything else for free, i.e. not paying for it, i.e. STEALING, kindly take yourself off into a corner and hang your head in shame.

That’s all.

Likeable.

Or not.

LD and I were yammering the other day over IM, which we tend to do on most days about topics various and sundry, and I was telling her how I’m almost done with the final season of Queer as Folk. I didn’t watch the show when it aired. I don’t have Showtime and at the time wouldn’t have had the time to commit, anyway. But I picked it up on DVD a couple years ago and have been slowly working my way through the series.

Usually I catch up on my tv via Netflix, because even though I do like to watch movies and tv shows more than once (that man I live with doesn’t) there’s not much tv I want to give the time to watch over and over, so therefore, don’t need to own it. Supernatural I must own. And the first season of Nip/Tuck.

And Queer as Folk.

I bought the seasons for myself as rewards for contracts or finishing books; I asked to be gifted with them for holidays. And I watched them in spurts (heh-heh) - two episodes at time with huge gaps in between. And at last, I’ve come to the end. I have one, final episode from the final season, and then…no more.

So I was rhapsodizing about Brian Kinney because holy cow, I do love Brian Kinney (and by extension, Gale Harold, obviously) and the fact is: he isn’t likeable. And yet, he is. He’s not a good guy but he’s a good person. No matter how much he snarks, lies, acts selfishly, is mean and rude, when it comes down to the end, he does the right thing, or gives his friends what they need (not always what they want) and most of all, he’s unapologetic about himself and who he is.

He’s not really a hero. Not the way most romance novels would portray one, not even as a bad boy turned good. Even when he does something good, he hasn’t changed. The next time around he might just as easily tell you to f-k off than help you. THAT is not a romance hero.

But whoever wrote him made him so wonderfully complex and sexy and damaged and wounded…and…and…

Okay, so he’s no Superman. But you know what? Evil Superman totally knocked my socks off, and yes, I mean that in the perverted way. EVIL! Superman haha! mmmm, oh, Evil Superman, I don’t expect you to save me, because you don’t DO that anymore! Wheeee! Lead me into sin, Evil!Superman!

…okay, I had a point somewhere along the way.

Oh, it’s this.

It’s not always the “good” characters who are the most interesting. I don’t think you have to “like” what a character does or is to like that character. Sometimes, the complex and complicated and intriguing character who’s not likeable, isn’t nice, doesn’t do the right thing, isn’t a HERO…he’s the one people remember most and talk about most and fall for the most.

M

OH…and as you can tell, I iz addicted to the Youtubes.

It’s growing up!

The post Supernatural analysis:

Natalie: it’s perfect this season
Natalie:of course, he’s growing up, so they let his hair grow up, too
Me: we had to suffer through season one
Natalie: and season 2 was hair adolescence
Natalie: now it’s manly hair
Me: mmmm
Me: you couldn’t grab dean’s hair
Me: you can barely run your fingers through it
Me: good thing he’s got those ears

Yes, we do talk about plot, too, and perfect Winchester Brothers moments, and the way Sam cries and the way Dean cries (single tear perfection) and how we like Bella and don’t like Ruby or vice versa…but yeah.

It’s also a lot about the hair.
