Ok, I’m pretty open minded and all, but I really have to draw the line at all this new stuff coming out in erotic fiction/romance. I just do.
WE DO NOT NEED TO KEEP PUSHING THE ENVELOPE.
We really just don’t, okay? We seriously don’t need to keep thinking of ways to write “hotter.” People making love is hot enough. KINK doesn’t make something hotter by the mere fact it’s “ooh, kinky.” Throwing in stuff you saw in a porn movie or thought you heard about someone once saw in a porn movie does NOT make the book hotter.
I by no means do everything I write about, but I have to at least get behind the idea of it as being sexy or something I can understand people doing. That’s how I write sex — I have to believe it.
But man, have I been reading some things that…really…just…I can’t believe people really think is sexy or romantic. I just don’t buy it and I can’t suspend my disbelief to get into stuff that doesn’t make sense. It’s not even a question of me not liking it — I don’t really find bondage exciting to me personally but I can understand why someone would, so I can read it and appreciate it and I could write it.
But what’s next with all this pushing the envelope crap? Coprophagia?
A clue, poppets, my doves, if you’re going to write that, IT IS NOT SEXY. I don’t care how kinky it makes you, it just ain’t hot.
