This month, my name is Mary.

My name is different every month -- Brandy, Honey, Amy...sometimes Joe doesn't even bother to ask -- but he never fails to arouse me with his body, his mouth, his touch, no matter what I'm called or where he picks me up. The sex is always amazing, always leaves me itching for more in those long weeks until I see him again.

My real name is Sadie, and once a month over lunch, Joe tells me about his latest conquest. But what Joe doesn't know is that, in my mind, I'm the star of every X-Rated one-night stand he has revealed to me, or that I'm practically obsessed with our imaginary sex life. I know it's wrong. I know my husband wouldn't understand. But I can't stop.

Not yet.

 TRIVIA

Sadie and Adam's house is based on the house of a friend. The same friend happens to be a psychologist.

My favorite of all Joe's women is Sarah. I think Sarah needs her own book someday. And not just because she has blue hair, like someone else I know. :)

Sarah lives in Mrs. Pease's house. If you read DIRTY, you know who Mrs. Pease is.

I once worked at the Renaissance Faire as a washer wench. I was the "cleanest wench in the Shire."

Joshua Radin's song What If You is what would be playing during the scene between Joe and Sadie that starts on the stairs, if BROKEN were ever made into a movie.

The Lit House was based on a real place, too, only it was the Cycling House (which I misheard as Psycho House.)

Originally, Joe's last name was Daily. I think I was still on a Jon Stewart kick.

The scene with the guy in the store hitting on Sadie...yeah, that happened to me fuhrealz. Only not quite as tidily.

 REVIEWS

"Readers get to experience Sadie's world through her eyes, and the first-person point of view works beautifully here. Hart's decision to filter our understanding of the other characters in Sadie's world is nothing short of brilliant. Sadie's descriptions of the events unfolding around her, of her hopes and dreams and of her sensual fantasies have the ability to transcend the page and truly bring her plight to life.

With her previous novel, Dirty, Hart established herself as an extremely skilled author of literary erotica. Broken uses her strengths by drawing on the author's ability to pen a tightly-plotted, vividly detailed and heartbreakingly emotional tale. This is not an easy read by any means. Readers looking for fun fantasy escapism won't find that here. However, fans of literary erotica craving a poignant, unidealized story will love Hart's novel." Belle Dessler, Bookloons

"This is not a traditional romance but the story of a real and complex woman caught in a difficult situation with no easy answers. Well-developed secondary characters and a compelling plot add depth to this absorbing and enticing novel. " Jessica E. Moyer for the Library Journal

"Broken is an apt title for this erotic novel. Adam's body has been irrevocably broken, as well as his life with Sadie. Even Joe's spicy stories reveal a certain brokenness of spirit. There is more than erotica involved in this captivating novel. Ms. Hart has a deep understanding of all the weaknesses and frailties of the human condition and this shines through in vibrant narrative and dialog. The characters are well crafted and believable. This is a book for those who prefer their romance on the very spicy side. Ms. Hart has written many other erotic novels and it is easy to see why she has succeeded in her chosen genre." Roberta for A Romance Review

"Megan Hart completely wowed me! I never read an erotic book that, aside from the explicit sex, is an emotionally powerful story. BROKEN is one of those books that you can read in one sitting--just make sure you have a box of tissues close by!" Julie Kornhausl for Romance Reader At Heart
