@Gabriela: official release date is Aug. 1, so though the stores seem to be shipping and/or stocking print copies, I guess the e-version won’t come out until then.
Just finished Naked, this one of the best love stories ever…thank you Ms. Hart. This would make a great movie. I have never been so excited to see a book come in the mail. I home there will be an audio version. I will buy that too.
Oh yeah. I got “Naked”, to hubby the kids are all yours. Went to my room, locked the door and got me some Alex. I finished it in two days and when I got to the end I was like…”please, Megan, may I have some more?” I saw on your video blog a picture that represented Alex to you (on a calendar) That is not how I see him but I am sure everyone sees him a little different but everyone can agree..damn sexy. Thanks for the book Megan
Thanks Megan… Now I’ll have to start the wait for that! Which will probably be 2011??
Oh well, in the meantime, will go back and re-listen to all the audio books I have of yours.
Hi! I love your books but I live in Argentina so I only can read three of them. But at list I have this page to look the covers and imagine how good will be read the rest of your books.
I hope you can understand what I want to say to you because my english it is not very good!
I’m now reading “Broken”–for the second time!–and find myself in awe of your story-telling talent.
I’ve read most of your books available in print and find them to be among the best-written of ALL contemporary fiction, not just erotic fiction.
Of course, I DO love the eroticism!
Thank heavens modern female readers (and authors) recognize the marvelous pleasure and great fun inherent in a rich, vicarious sex life.
3 questions
1. Does bad grammar drive you crazy? (I brought my english teacher with my grammer and I try really hard to be correct but I have a problem with run on sentences.)
2. Is Alex the father? (Eye color was mentioned)
3. Would you ever use Lady Ga Ga’s Bad Romance as a “Book Finished Dance”?
Do you receive negative feedback from women who dislike your use of “cunt” interchangeably with “pussy”?
The choice of explicit terms is always a judgment call.
But in my mind “fuck” has two entirely different meanings when a character says “Go fuck yourself,” or a different character says “I’ve always wanted to fuck you.”
I would NEVER call a woman a “cunt,” but I love a woman to invite me to fuck her cunt “because that’s what it’s for.”
Does that make sense?
Hi, Paul, thanks for writing. The answer is — I avoid reviews, most of the time. Not always, but mostly. Or discussions of my work. So if someone’s talking about how much they hate me using the word cunt, I’m not hearing about it. I think I have stumbled across a few…not complaints, but more like “oh, I don’t like the c-word” or something like that, and I have definitely HEARD women talking about how they don’t like that word, not in reference to my books but in general.
Me, I don’t care much for the word pussy. I’ll use it, if the character would use it. But I prefer to use cunt — it’s a good, strong word and frankly, I agree with you that you can BE one or you can HAVE one. And I would call a woman a cunt if she’s being one, you don’t get a free pass just because you have a vagina.
I read an article recently about how women are put down or held back or patronized by misogynistic language, and I don’t disagree that being patted on the head and called little lady isn’t annoying, I understand the power of words. If men (and I’m painting with a broad brush, apologies) have made “cunt” a dirty word, well…it’s my right as a woman and a writer to take back that word and use it as something strong.
That said, there really is no good way to talk about penises and vaginas in an erotic story. They have to be referred to as slang, much of which is ridiculous and not sexy. So I go with the best I can and avoid things like “nether lips” and “Honeyed well” — there would be very few circumstances that call for that, though I wouldn’t rule them out entirely.
The biggest problem is that my characters are not me, and not all of them would feel okay saying CUNT since it’s not a word that many women DO use, so sometimes I have to say pussy and sometimes I guess I should find a way to say something else.
My heroes think of their penises as dicks more often than my heroines do. And they can BE dicks or they can HAVE dicks. Or both.
Hi Megan – just finished reading Naked and it was good to finally get Alex’s story. However, why do I feel like the true love story is still Alex and Anne? Despite the denials of not loving Anne anymore, it just didn’t feel right.
BTW, I’m a huge fan of your books…they have uplifted and mentally damaged me all at the same time. I read what you wrote earlier about never having a threesome ending with Alex/Anne/James and deservedly so, Alex needs someone he doesn’t have to share. But in my heart of hearts, I just wish it were Anne…that she had the courage to ditch James and do what she really wanted. But I guess that door is closed and why you’re the one who crafts the story!
@Kat: all I can say is, just because you love someone doesn’t mean they’re good for you. Sometimes the relationships that end are the ones that teach us and help us the most.
The first book of yours I read was “Dirty,” and I enjoyed it very much. Then I read “Deeper,” and again, thought it was a terrific read. After that, I read “Tempted,” and fell in love with the characters and the story. And now I’m reading “Naked,” and just can’t tell you enough how talented you are as a writer! Also, thanks for continuing Alex’s story, I just love him!
I have read just about all your books and just finished Naked. Truth is i had no clue you were even making ALEX a story but i must say it was so worth the wait and he ends up loving again. I honestly can say you give hope to all! Thankyou for my favorite entertainment .
I can not say enough good things about Naked! First off..i am a biracial woman (black & white) and was absolutely blown away by ur accurate portrayal of what it can be like…amazing…i have not read tempted & honestly don’t know if I could now..as much as I loved Oliva & Alex’s story. (i don’t want him w anyone else! Lol) I know you have written about Alex multiple times but I can’t help but think their story isn’t over…do you think they have more to say? & if so would you revist it?
@Nikki: Thanks so much for writing, Nikki! It’s no secret that Alex Kennedy is one of my favorite characters, so I’m sure he’ll show up at some point or another. No plans, but he’s not out of the picture.
Hi Megan! First time visiting your website. Just wanted to say that you are one of my favorite authors. Your style of writing always draws me in and leaves me happily satisfied with an interesting story that I think about for days. Looking forward to reading Naked.
