Writing Wednesday

I’m totally stealing this from my friend Doug who does this so brilliantly on Facebook.

Are you a writer with questions about writing?
Ask!

Are you a reader with questions about writing?
Ask!

Are you Keanu Reeves, wanting to take me on a motorcycle ride?

…you don’t even NEED to ask. :)

So! G’wan. Ask away!

    I’m asking as a writer.

I guess you have to plot your storys for your publisher before you even start writing. Are you able to go with the planning or do you deviate from the original plot?

I have to go the other way around because I still have to search for a publisher every time I finish a manuscript. One day…

I hope you understand what I’m asking.

    Grüße aus Deutschland

Hi, Melanie. It depends. Sometimes I have to submit a proposal or synopsis in advance, sometimes I write the book first and then sell it. I usually deviate from the plot in some way. I plan ahead only a little bit!

I have a question as a writer. Are you still writing like a book every month? And you haven’t been on a motorcycle with Kneau yet?

Megan, As an aspiring trying to be writer. I wondered if from your first draft, does it change in your story when you start out to write it? How many drafts till you get it just RIGHT? And are you a pacer or a plotter?
    Thank You
    Michele

Michele » It always changes. I’ve never heard pacer (usually hear panster, I’m thinking it’s the same thing) but I’d say I’m less a plotter than a “see what happens” sort of writer. I do plot a bit in advance. I usually know the ending, but getting there is open to interpretation. ;) How many drafts…it really depends. Sometimes a lot. Sometimes only a couple. ;)
