I started editing TAKEN (which is now called…NAKED! Yes, it’s really going to be called Naked, and I like it) yesterday! Yes, yes, I know I was going to wait until I’d finished the next Order of Solace book for Berkley, which is due in September, HOWEVER…I have to spend the day at the school doing motherly things and then tomorrow I’m off to the wilds of Cherry Hill, NJ, to NOT SEE Jared Padalecki…and it didn’t make much sense to start writing a new book with all that going on, knowing I’d get maybe 10 or 15 pages into it and have to stop for a number of days.
And I like it.
Oh, there are a couple points I thought I’d drop and have decided to keep, at least on this first pass-through. And there’s A LOT that’s a mess, some places I have the same information twice and have to combine it, some motivation I need to firm up. But overall, I like it. I didn’t like it last week when I finished it (or was that the beginning of this week? Man, I can’t remember.)
Anyway, there are still scenes to write and some stuff to add, and I haven’t decided if “the end” I have is really the end or if they’ll have to go through some other stuff before they fiiiiiiiinally make it through.
But I like it.
Which is good!
And I’m eager to get started on the next Order of Solace book because THOSE books are fun, wow, boy, are they ever. But I think I’ll finish the first round of edits on NAKED now — get those inputted (is that a word?) into the document and print out a fresh, clean copy for review.
THEN I’ll start the next OoS book, which I think is called Selfish is the Heart but I don’t really like that, so hopefully something else will come to me.
RT is in a month, I’d really like to be done with a good portion of the book by then. I have a writing retreat in May, which I plan to spend writing my next Spice Brief (if I really work hard there I bet I can finish it!…Key is, “if” I can work “hard” which I never do at the retreat. What is often everyone else’s most productive time is Megan’s time to nap and loll around, distracting my room mate.)
Also have to finish up No Reservations before April.
But none of that, today.
Today I must go to help out with the school musical and get to watch it, since I will be missing it to NOT SEE Jared Padalecki. Yeah. I will be seeing lots of other fun people though, and apparently, there will be karaoke and dessert of some sort, so hey, it’s all good. (It’s just expensive and not what I thought I’d be doing, but hey, really…the three seconds I’d have spent NOTLOOKING at him would’ve passed by in such a blur I’m sure I’d barely remember it, anyway.)
