HAPPY RELEASE DAY!
happy-release-day

Ahhhhh, the sweet, sweet feeling of release.

So, Taking Care of Business has officially “come out” today and boy, is it excitement city around here. I’m still in my PJ’s. (another sort of sleepless night, don’t ask. Thanks for all the good thoughts on my kid, he seems to be on the mend.)

The winner from yesterday’s blog entry is:

This one sounds so good. Can’t wait to go out and get it tomorrow
by Jessie

Jessie, you win your choice of Stranger, Naughty Bits or A Red Hot Valentine’s Day! Please email me your choice and your snail mail address to readinbed AT gmail.com — if I don’t hear from you by April 7th, you’ll forfeit your prize.

And to celebrate release day, in ADDITION to the ongoing contest Lauren and I are doing over at Dane Hart Discuss I also feel in a giving mood. Since one of the grand prizes for the contest is the playlists each of us made while writing, it’s pretty obvious I love music. And, I love turning people on to the music I love. So, today only, *that’s until midnight, EST, Tues. 3/31/09, your comment must be posted before then or else it’s ineligible* I will give away a song from iTunes to TEN RANDOM COMMENTORS! YOU MUST HAVE iTUNES enabled and be a resident of the U.S. — iTunes won’t let me gift music to anyone in other countries. Sorry! But if you live in the US and use iTunes, you can enter!)

Just comment to this entry about your craziest conference story, or, if you don’t have one, make one up. I’ll choose ten winners tomorrow morning when I get up and post them. You even get to pick which song you want.

How’s that for fabulous! And don’t forget to keep checking here and at Lauren’s blog for the big contest, which ends Friday!

Monday TCOB blog!
monday-tcob-blog

It’s going up late because my dear son is down with the flu (second round of it for him, poor kid) and I was up off and on all night with him, and therefore, only just got up and about a little while ago.

Now I am eating soup. It’s pretty good! And I’m craving diet cola. Yeah, I know, I gave it up, but I still *want* it and I still drink it, just not as much as I used to.

I am alone.

I won’t be alone in a while. In a little while I’ll leave to be with other people. But right now, I am alone. It’s gray outside, and quiet in here; I didn’t expect to be alone but I’m glad I am, except for the headache.

I think maybe I should write or watch a movie. I already read two magazines and a book (The Perks of Being A Wallflower — Jen bought it for me for my birthday, and it was great!) and I’m thinking about all the books I should write but I know that I’ll just wait until Monday and start then.

So I could watch a movie, but I don’t think have enough time before I need to leave to go watch a movie or two with friends. I could fast forward, I guess. I was watching Velvet Goldmine and really, there are only a few parts I need to watch. (You know which ones.)

I’m not sure if I ever mentioned this, but real person fic and particularly real person slash really makes my stomach hurt. It seems strange to me that a fan would write a story about a real person having sex (homosexual or heterosexual) with another real person and put it out there on the internet for the world (including those real people and their family and friends) to read. I also really don’t like manips that put the faces of real people on gay porn.

I also despise the people who bought the domain name of a popular social networking site but with a pretty common typo in it, and forwarded it to a really explicit XXX porn site so that my tween-age daughter, in her attempts to get on the social networking site, was exposed to blatant photos of cock sucking. Yeah. I’m pretty angry about that. I’m all for looking up porn if you WANT to but when it’s forced on me or anyone I get pretty pissed off.

Dear Twitter…

I still mostly only use you to tell the world I updated my blog. I know this is probably crass and cold; I realize there are people who love you more than I do. I know this. I do.

Yet I can’t bring myself to tweet more often.

I’m sorry.

Everyone needs an angel.

Everyone needs an angel to tell them it will be all right, especially if you’re expected to stop the apocalypse. An angel who will tell you ” you can do it – you are strong enough. You will do what needs to be done. You will fulfill your destiny.”

Thank you, Sera Gamble and everyone.

Contrariwise…

I’m reading a book now that is called “erotic and haunting” on the cover.

Now, I might be crazy, but for a book to be “erotic” one might imagine that it would have some SEX in it. I’m not talking a paragraph about a jackoff, but some actual sex.

Contrariwise, a book with a lot of sex in it is not necessarily erotic.

But I would think a book labeled erotic would have some fucking.

It’s a pretty good book, but I’m halfway through it and yeah. The sex has been minimal to non-existent.
