I hate clutter. I really do. But as I look around my office, I realize I have a lot of “stuff.” I’m not a minimalist. So what makes the clutter in my office okay? Well, it’s mine, for one thing — and the other is, all the clutter is in a PLACE. It’s not randomly strewn about the whole house, getting underfoot, or just generally looking like crap. It’s contained clutter. And I am very tired of the rest of the clutter, the various Lego pieces, the headphones, the video game cases, the random f-ing socks I find in THE KITCHEN. Okay? I’m tired of it.
But today I exercised an extra half an hour on the bike and watched As Time Goes By.Wow, do I love this show. I used to watch it on PBS back in the 90s when I watched TV during the day or just randomly, when I had a TV in the living room of my other house and had it on while I did…whatever the heck I did all day back then.
I still loved it!
Now I’m going to get to writing.

I have found socks in the kitchen before. The clutter makes me crazy. The after Christmas clutter almost sent me to the looney bin. But I’m better now. Kinda.

That is one of my favorite shows of all time. I used to watch it in NYC, when we had a tiny 12 inch TV my husband would get out of the closet once a week so we could watch it. It’s so simple and so fun all at the same time, and I admit, I love Lionel, how he’ll just take charge of Jean when he needs to.

I have contained clutter in my room as well. I know where everything is and it’s somewhat organized, so it doesn’t really bother me. Clutter anywhere else just gets on my nerves.

I’m… cluttered :X I can find things better in clutter than when organized. I’m clean though – obsessively. (Isn’t that an interesting mix?)
Heh – I don’t think I’ve ever found socks in the kitchen though.

I can’t say as I’ve ever found socks in the kitchen, but I do enjoy my clutter, in my bedroom/office. I’m one of those writers who can’t work in a place that’s too organized because I find I spend most of my time getting up to get things I need from the shelves instead of just having them around me, close to hand.
When I’m knee deep in a WIP, forget it, my place looks like a tornado hit it. Once the WIP is done, then I clean up and it starts all over again.
That’s how people can tell when I’ve finished a new book.
