Guest Blogger, Cynthia Eden!

Name of release: Midnight Sins

Date of release: 11/25/08

PhotobucketBlurb:
Cara Maloan doesn’t look like a monster. In fact, the gorgeous blond nightclub singer possesses heavenly attributes that make Atlanta detective Todd Brooks sure there’s a higher power somewhere. But a twisted killer is leaving a trail of bodies in seedy hotel rooms across town. The male victims show no wounds–it’s as if the life was simply drained from them. And right now, mysterious Cara is Todd’s only suspect.

Cara knows it’s foolish to be so drawn to a man who thinks she’s a murderer. She also knows Detective Brooks would find the truth even harder to swallow. Cara is one of the Other, a race of powerful, paranormal creatures who live among humans. Cara’s particular abilities make men putty in her hands–all except this rugged, sexy-as-hell detective. But now someone, or something, has singled Cara out for serious payback.

As uneasy trust gives way to mind-blowing desire, Cara and Todd will go head-to-head with a killer whose mission is deeply personal, and who’s determined to serve up revenge that’s hotter than hellfire, and just as deadly…

Interview:

Hi! Congratulations on your new release. First off, can you introduce yourself? Don’t be shy…

Hello, Megan! Sure, I’m happy to introduce myself. I’m Cynthia Eden and I write paranormal suspense novels. I do love those paranormal characters…

Tell me a little bit of what your book’s about…

I like to think of MIDNIGHT SINS as Basic Instinct meets The X-Files. My hero, Detective Todd Brooks, is on the hunt for a killer. He never expects to fall for his lead suspect—and he sure doesn’t expect the woman to be a succubus.

Where did you get the idea for it? (Is it part of a series, etc.)

MIDNIGHT SINS is the second book in my “Midnight” trilogy for Kensington Brava. I liked Todd’s character in HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT—I liked that the man knew nothing about the paranormal world. And I thought it would be fun to give him a chance to see the real world. Once I had my hero set up, I just had to find him the perfect women, er, demon.

Do you have a writing schedule? Was there anything different about writing this book than any others? (If this is your first release, make sure to mention it!)

I generally try to write 10 pages each day (when I’m on a deadline). Getting into the routine really helps me to stay focused.

What was your favorite part of this book? Your least favorite?

I loved writing the beginning of this book. Sometimes, if I’m writing a book, I’ll write a few different opening scenes—the better to see which one clicks the best for me. But, with MIDNIGHT SINS, I only had one opening, so the beginning went very fast for me. My least favorite part? Killing off one of the characters.

Tell me about your favorite scene.

I loved writing the initial interrogation scene between Todd and Cara. He thinks she could be guilty of murder—so he brings her down to the station. He’s trying to do his job and stay focused, but the attraction between them is already strong, and growing stronger by the moment. Cara’s confused and scared and she doesn’t know what’s going on—and the fact that she finds herself attracted to the rude cop just pisses her off.

Ah. Fun. ☺

Anything else you’d like to say about writing this book, or the book itself?

Just that I had a great time writing Todd’s story—it seemed to end too soon for me. But, hey, luckily, I was able to get to work on the last book in this trilogy, MIDNIGHT’S MASTER, and that story kept me very busy.

Megan, thanks for the interview! You rock, woman!

Thanks to Cynthia for stopping by!
