Last week was pretty much a loss due to stomach flu, but I did manage to color my hair which is always a good time. I got smart this time and wore clothes into the shower when I rinsed so I didn’t end up with blue/purple legs and feet (and other parts.) It worked out really well! I’ll have to remember to do that next time. I probably won’t do it again until after the summer, though, since it’s just not worth it during the summer when I’m out in the sun and it bleaches everything out.
I also did a lot of reading. My books from RT finally came a while ago and I now am the proud owner of a TBR pile.
I devoured Lois Greiman’s Taming the Barbarian and really enjoyed it. I mean…hello, brawny Scottish warrior from the past? Yeah, ok. I’m there. This was my first read from Greiman, and I really like her voice. She’s got some really delightful dialogue and the love scene…grrrrowl! Keep in mind that I write really, really graphic stuff, so when I can get tingly from something that’s less graphic, I’m always happy! I also picked up her Tempting the Wolf which I haven’t finished yet but have liked so far. I liked the hero even MORE than in TTB, for one thing. I can’t wait to find out what happens! But I misplaced it and started a new book (I read more than one book at a time, anyone else do that?) so I will finish this one this week.
I also read Joey Hill’s Natural Law …jaysus. GAWD what a good book. I was looking for something with femdom in it…what I’ve read in my travels has left a distinct hole in that place inside that’s looking for some really really good, satisfying feminine domination fiction. Well, Hill gave it to me and tenfold with Natural Law. Not only did she give me exquisite prose and immensely satisfying femdom fiction, she gave me a sweet and tender love story AND a serial killer!!! MAN, oh, man oh man. For those who aren’t comfortable with BDSM, this book won’t be for you. All in all, this book was a fantastic read and I’m so glad I picked it up. It gave my stilletto-shoed, whip-cracking little heart palpitations.
I also finished Jackie Kessler’s Hell’s Belles . Oh, what fun! What a great, fast-paced and sexy read! I laughed aloud at some of the demon Jezebel’s antics, I really did. Looking forward to the next one.
I finished Sena Jetar Naslund’s Abundance . It was a freebie I picked up at RT at one of the parties (traded LD for it, in fact, I think). I’d read her Ahab’s Wife previously and liked it well enough, but it’s not a book I’d have picked up in the store. Yet I really liked it and I’m glad I got it!
I started reading My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding but so far…meh. It’s not holding my attention. Could be I’ve got lots of other stuff to get to, could be that I just am not into the the book’s theme, or whatever. Not sure. But I’ll keep it on hand for when I need a quick story fix.
I still have TONS of books on my pile, but that’s fine since I’m going on vacation twice this summer and plan to do mucho reading.
Also:
Went to the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Baily Circus. We go every year and this year, yay! Bello was back! Oh, I do love Bello!

Hmm…what else?
Oh, yeah. We saw POTC 3. Yeah, three hours of my life I’ll never get back and yeah, yeah, whatever I know that will make me unpopular with my friends, but sweet knobbly pete…seriously. No love there from me. I didn’t hate it. I was left so meh about it I can’t even be bothered to hate it. I can’t even be bothered to dissect it. Watching POTC was like eating oatmeal. It was okay while I was doing it, but I’m not really hankering for more.
Then today we went to a picnic where the entertainment was Chris Ivey …can I just tell you how much I think he rocks? This is the third time I’ve seen his show. He’s great. He’s faaaabulous!
Oh, yeah, and I had my book signing, can’t forget that!
On the writing front, not much going on. Waiting to hear back on a few projects. I’ve only got a few more days before school releases my spawn and I go back and forth between getting started on something new and just catching up on stuff around the house. I mean…it’s not like I’ll finish anything before they’re home and the whole plan was to NOT have anything on the plate over the summer. But I think tomorrow I’ll hit the coffee shop just because I haven’t been there in forever and I have to go to the post office anyway, and I’ll finish up This is What I Want.
Because I want to.
And then at the end of this week it’s off to NYC for the Book Expo, woo hoo!
And summer’s coming! woo hoo woo hoo!

LOL! Oh, Anne, you are my new BFF.
I’m so glad you liked my books! As for the backlist…erm…well let me say that just remember that a good writer keeps getting BETTER, so earlier work…you know…might not be the same um…standard… LOL
Email me privately, though. I have an offer you can’t refuse.
